In the sacred month that marks the Migration of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), it reminds us to do making efforts to achieve our religious goals and please Allah through our actions in life. Certainly! The sacred month you’re referring to is Muharram. It holds great significance in the Islamic calendar.

  1. Start of the Islamic Year: Muharram marks the beginning of the Islamic New Year. It is the first month of the lunar-based Islamic calendar (Hijri calendar).
  2. Sacredness: Muharram is one of the four sacred months, as mentioned in the Quran (Surah At-Taubah 9:36). The other three sacred months are Dhul-Qadah, Dhul-Hijjah, and Rajab.
  3. Day of Ashura: The 10th day of Muharram, known as Ashura, is especially significant. It commemorates various events, including the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS) in the Battle of Karbala and the liberation of Prophet Musa (AS) and the Children of Israeel from Pharaoh’s tyranny.
  4. Fasting: While fasting on the 10th of Muharram (Ashura) was initially obligatory, it later became optional. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, “Whoever wishes to fast (on the day of ‘Ashura’) may do so; and whoever wishes to leave it can do so” (Sahih Bukhari: 1592)

Welcome to London Muslims, where we come together to honor the sacred month that began with the Migration of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). This month serves as a reminder to put in effort towards achieving our religious goals and striving to please Allah.Muharram is a time for reflection, worship, and seeking Allah’s blessings. May this sacred month bring you spiritual growth and blessings .Through our non-profit organization, we aim to encourage members of the community to lead purposeful lives in alignment with our faith. Let us guide one another in making sincere efforts to achieve our spiritual ambitions and seek the pleasure of Allah in all that we do.

Surely, the number of months according to Allah is twelve (as written) in the Book of Allah on the day He created the heavens and the Earth, of which there are Four Sacred Months. That is the right faith. So, do not wrong yourself therein

so wrong not yourselves therein, during these Sacred Months, for sin in them is worse than sin in other months.
Likewise, sins in the Sacred City are written multiplied,

and whoever inclines to evil actions therein (in Makkah) or to do wrong, him We shall cause to taste from a painful torment. (22;25)

And when the two companies saw one another, the companions of Moses said, “Indeed, we are to be overtaken!” (Ash-Shu’ara [26] : 61)

He said, “Never! Indeed with me is my Lord. He will guide me.”

So We revealed to Mūsā saying, “Strike the sea with your staff.” So it was severed apart, and each part became like a big mountain.

Ibn Abbas said,”The sea divided into twelve paths, one for each of the tribes.”

Then We brought others close to that place.

And We saved Mūsā and all those with him.

Then we drowned the others.

2

If you do not help him, (it makes no difference to the Prophet, because) Allah has already helped him when the disbelievers expelled him, and he was the second of the two, when they were in the cave, and he was saying to his companion, “Do not grieve. Allah is surely with us.”So, Allah caused His tranquility to descend on him,and supported him with troops that you did not see, and rendered the word of the disbelievers humiliated. And the word of Allah is the uppermost. Allah is Mighty, Wise.

The Prophet kept reassuring him and strengthening his resolve, saying,

O Abu Bakr! What do you think about two, with Allah as their third!

3

If Allah helps you, there is none to overcome you. And if He abandons you, then, who is there to help you after that? In Allah the believers should place their trust.

and indeed your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful.

He who fights so that Allah’s Word is superior, then he fights in Allah’s cause.)” Allah said next,

Leave her, she is ordered.

From the valley of Wadā‘.

And we owe it to show gratefulness.

Where the call is to Allah.

If Allah helps you, there is none to overcome you. And if He abandons you, then, who is there to help you after that? In Allah the believers should place their trust.

4-

Do you think that you will enter Paradise while you have not yet been visited by (difficult) circumstances like those that were faced by the people who passed away before you? They were afflicted by hardship and suffering, and were so shaken down that the prophet, and those who believed with him, started saying: “When (will come) the help of Allah?” (Then, they were comforted by the Prophet who said to them) ‘Behold, the help of Allah is near.’

الْبَأْسَاء(Al-Ba’sa’) means poverty.     وَالضَّرَّاء(…andAd-Darra’) means ailments.

الم

Alif-Lam-Mim. Do people think that they will be left alone because they say;”We believe,” and will not be tested And We indeed tested those who were before them. And Allah will certainly make (it) known (the truth of) those who are true, and will certainly make (it) known (the falsehood of) those who are liars. (29;1-3)

The Campaign of the Confederates (Al-Ahzab)

Allah tells us of the blessings and favors He bestowed upon His believing servants when He diverted their enemies and defeated them in the year when they gathered together and plotted. That was the year ofAl-Khandaq, inShawwalof the year 5 AH according to the well-known correct view.
Musa bin Uqbah and others said that it was in the year 4 AH.
The reason why the Confederates came was that a group of the leaders of the Jews of Banu Nadir, whom the Messenger of Allah had expelled from Al-Madinah to Khyber, including Sallam bin Abu Al-Huqayq, Sallam bin Mishkam and Kinanah bin Ar-Rabi, went to Makkah where they met with the leaders of Quraysh and incited them to make war against the Prophet.
They promised that they would give them help and support, and Quraysh agreed to that. Then they went to the Ghatafan tribe with the same call, and they responded too. The Quraysh came out with their company of men from various tribes and their followers, under the leadership of Abu Sufyan Sakhr bin Harb. The Ghatafan were led by Uyaynah bin Hisn bin Badr. In all they numbered nearly ten thousand.
When the Messenger of Allah heard that they had set out, he commanded the Muslims to dig a ditch (Khandaq) around Al-Madinah from the east. This was on the advice of Salman Al-Farisi, may Allah be pleased with him.
So the Muslims did this, working hard, and the Messenger of Allah worked with them, carrying earth away and digging, in the process of which there occurred many miracles and clear signs.
The idolators came and made camp to the north of Al-Madinah, near Uhud, and some of them camped on the high ground overlooking Al-Madinah, as Allah says;
(When they came upon you from above you and from below you),
The Messenger of Allah came out with the believers, who numbered nearly three thousand, or it was said that they numbered seven hundred. They had their backs towards (the mountain of) Sal` and were facing the enemy, and the ditch, in which there was no water, was between the two groups, preventing the cavalry and infantry from reaching them. The women and children were in the strongholds of Al-Madinah.

Banu Qurayzah, who were a group among the Jews, had a fortress in the south-east of Al-Madinah, and they had made a treaty with the Prophet and were under his protection. They numbered nearly eight hundred fighters. Huyay bin Akhtab An-Nadari went to them and kept trying to persuade them until they broke the treaty and went over to the side of the Confederates against the Messenger of Allah. The crisis deepened and things got worse, as Allah says;
(There, the believers were tried and shaken with a mighty shaking). (33;11)

They besieged the Prophet and his Companions for almost a month, but they did not reach them and there was no fighting between them, except for when `Amr bin Abd Wadd Al-Amiri, who was one of the most famous and bravest horsemen of theJahiliyyah, came with some other horsemen, and crossed the ditch to the Muslim side.

The Messenger of Allah called for the Muslim cavalry, and it was said that no one came forward. Then he called Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, who came forward and they fought in single combat until Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, killed him, and this was a sign of imminent victory.

Then Allah sent an intensely cold wind with strong gusts against the Confederates, and they were left with no tents or anything else; they could not light any fires or do anything, and so they departed, disappointed and defeated, as Allah says;

O you who believe, remember Allah’s favor to you, when the forces (of the infidels) came upon you, and We sent upon them a wind, and the forces (of angels) you did not see. Allah is watchful of whatever you do.

and forces that you saw not.
This refers to the angels who shook them and cast fear and terror into their hearts.

(Recall) when they came upon you from above you and from below you, and when the eyes were distracted, and the hearts reached the throats, and you were thinking about Allah all sorts of thoughts.

and when the eyes grew wild and the hearts reached to the throats,
means, from intense fear and terror.

Al-Hasan said concerning theAyah;
(and you were harboring doubts about Allah),
“There were different kinds of thoughts; the hypocrites thought that Muhammad and his Companions would be eliminated, while the believers were certain that what Allah and His Messenger promised was true, and that He would cause the religion to prevail even if the idolators hated it.”
Ibn Abi Hatim recorded that Abu Sa`id, may Allah be pleased with him, said;
“On the day ofAl-Khandaq, we said;`O Messenger of Allah, is there anything we should say, for our hearts have reached our throats.’
He said;
Yes, say;
O Allah, cover our weak points and calm our fears.
Then (Allah) struck the faces of the enemy with the wind, and defeated them with the wind.
This was also recorded by Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal from Abu `Amir Al-`Aqadi

At that occasion, the believers were put to a trial and were shaken with a violent convulsion.

(Remember) when the hypocrites and those having malady in their hearts were saying, “Allah and His messenger did not promise us but deceitfully;

Help Of Allah Depend

If Allah helps you, there is none to overcome you. And if He abandons you, then, who is there to help you after that? In Allah the believers should place their trust.

Do not lose heart and do not grieve, and you are the upper-most if you are believers.

and it was due on Us to help the believers. 30:47

Allah sufficed the believers against fighting. And Allah is Powerful, Mighty.

Allah has promised those of you who believe and do good deeds that He will certainly make them (His) vicegerents in the land, as He made those before them, and will certainly establish for them their religion which He has chosen for them, and will certainly give them peace in place of fear in which they were before; (provided that) they worship Me, ascribing no partner to Me. And those who turn infidel after that are the transgressors.

“It may be that your Lord will destroy your enemy and make you successors on the earth…” (7;129)

Surely, We do help Our messengers and the believers, in the worldly life, as well as (we will help them) on the day in which witnesses will stand (to give their testimony)-

likewise

And whatever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatever he forbids you from, abstain (from it). And fear Allah. Indeed Allah is severe in punishment.

Abu Huraira reported:

I went along with Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) at a time during the day but he did not talk to me and I did not talk to him until he reached the market of Bani Qainuqa`. He came back to the tent of Fatima and said: Is the little chap (meaning Hasan) there? We were under the impression that his mother had detained him in order to bathe him and dress him and garland him with a sweet garland. Not much time had passed that he (Hasan) came running until both of them embraced each other, thereupon Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: O Allah, I love him; love him Thou and love one who loves him (Hasan).

The servants of the RaHmān (the All-Merciful, Allah) are those who walk on the earth humbly, and when the ignorant people speak to them, they reply peacefully,﴿

And when they hear Al-Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk), they withdraw from it and say: “To us our deeds, and to you your deeds. Peace be to you. We seek not the ignorant.”

Ahadith about salam

And Allah said:

When you enter houses, offer greetings of peace upon each other, a greeting from Allah, blessed and good.

Surat al-Nur 24:59

When you are greeted with a greeting, greet with one better than it or return it in a like manner.

Surat al-Nisa 4:86

Whoever seeks a faith other than Islam, it will never be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers.

Abu Huraira reported: A man passed by the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, while he was sitting in a gathering. The man said, “Peace be upon you.” The Prophet said, “Ten good deeds.” Another man passed by and he said, “Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah.” The Prophet said, “Twenty good deeds.” Another man passed by and he said, “Peace be upon you, the mercy of Allah, and his blessings.” The Prophet said, “Thirty good deeds.” A man stood up to leave the gathering and he did not offer salutations of peace. The Prophet said, “How quickly your companion forgets! If one of you comes to a gathering, let him greet them with peace. If there is room for him to sit, let him sit. If he stands to leave, let him offer salutations of peace. The former duty is no different than the latter.”

Who can be better in words than the one who calls towards Allah, and acts righteously and says, “I am one of those who submit themselves (to Allah)”?

Good and evil are not equal. Repel (evil) with what is best, and you will see that the one you had mutual enmity with him will turn as if he were a close friend.

When the young men took refuge in the Cave and said, “Our Lord, bless us with mercy from Your own and provide us with guidance in our matters.”

So, We sealed up their hearing (putting them to sleep) in the Cave for a number of years.

We narrate to you their story with truth. They were young men who believed in their Lord and We gave them more guidance.

He will say, “O Would that I had sent ahead (some good deeds) for (this) my life!”

O you who believe, fear Allah, and everybody must consider what he (or she) has sent ahead for tomorrow. And fear Allah. Surely Allah is fully aware of what you do.

Do not be like those who forgot Allah, so He made them forget their own selves. Those are the sinners.

Your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him, and do good to parents. If any one of them or both of them reach old age, do not say to them: uff (a word or expression of anger or contempt) and do not scold them, and address them with respectful words,

and submit yourself before them in humility out of compassion, and say, “My Lord, be merciful to them as they have brought me up in my childhood.”

Who is there to advance a loan, a good loan, to Allah so that He multiplies it for him, and he may have a noble reward?

WHEN IT REVEALED

was revealed, Abu Ad-Dahdah Al-Ansari said, `O Allah’s Messenger!

Does Allah ask us for a loan’ The Prophet said,

(Yes, O Abu Ad-Dahdah.) He said, `Give me your hand, O Allah’s Messenger,’ and the Prophet placed his hand in his hand. Abu Ad-Dahdah said, `Verily, I have given my garden as a loan to my Lord.’ He had a garden that contained six hundred date trees; his wife and children were living in that garden too. Abu Ad-Dahdah went to his wife and called her, `Umm Ad-Dahdah!’ She said, `Here I am.’ He said, `Leave the garden, because I have given it as a loan to my Lord, the Exalted and Most Honored.’ She said, `That is a successful trade, O Abu Ad-Dahdah!’ She then transferred her goods and children. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said,

(How plentiful are the sweet date clusters that Abu Ad-Dahdah has in Paradise!)” In another narration, the Prophet said,
