bismillah

With the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Very-Merciful.

First verse of Quran

Read with the name of your Lord who created (every thing),

بِسْمِ اللَّـهِ الرَّ‌حْمَـٰنِ الرَّ‌حِيمِ is a verse of the Holy Qur’an, being a part of the Surah al-Naml سورة النمل (The Ant); and there is also an agreement on that this verse is written at the head of every Surah except the Surah al-Taubah سورة التوبہ .

All others divine books begun with Bismillah too ( Allama sayuti )

a) With the name of Allah اللہ’s caring company –مصاحبة

b) With the name of Allah اللہ ‘s Help –نَصْرَةُ

c) With the name of Allah اللہ ‘s Blessings – تَبَّرك

On the authority of Abdullah bin Abbas: He is the one whom everything deifies, and every creation worships.

On the authority of Abdullah bin Abbas, he said: “God” has divinity and worship over all of His creation.

Among them are the following:

1) The Quran started with ‘Bismillah’

2) Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) commenced his letters to the various kings with ‘bismillah’

3) Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) said: ‘…When you recite Bismillah, shaytan contracts till he reaches the size of a fly.’

(Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 4943 & Musnad Ahmad, vol.5 pg.59 with a reliable chain; Majma’uz Zawaid, vol.10 pg.132)

After citing this Hadith, Hafiz Ibn Kathir (rahimahullah) writes the following at the beginning of his monumental tafsir book:

‘This is the blessed effect of bismilah. Therefore it is recommended at the beginning of every deed or speech.’

4) He then cited Hadiths that clearly recommend reciting Bismillah before:

1. Meals,

2. Entering the toilet,

3. Engaging in sexual relations with one’s wife,

4. Wudu, etc.

These are merely a few examples. See Fathul Bari, Hadith: 4553 for more such supports for this practice.

One is indeed encouraged to say Bismillah before any task.

in short ,

closing the door of one’s house, putting out the lamp, covering a vessel, should
all be done with the recitation of Bismillah. The Holy Qur’an and the
ahadiih (Traditions) repeatedly instruct us to recite this verse while
taking food, drinking water, performing the wudu (ablution), getting
on a carriage or getting down from it. (Qurtubi)

Letters of Prophets (PBUH) with Bismillah

we learn from Quran that to begin all actions with Bismillah wasthe Sunnah of all the Ambiyaa (PBUH)

When Hadrat Sulaiman (PBUH) wrote a letter to the
queen of Sabaa, he wrote Bismillah in the beginning of it as is stated in the Quran
Sharif,
When Seydna Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) wrote letters to the various kings he would begin with Bismillah. There is a
famous Hadith which states,

“Any work which is begun without Bismillah will be incomplete and void of blessings.”
In another Hadith it is stated,

“Any work which is begun without Alhmdulillah will be incomplete and void of blessings.”

Also mentioned in another hadith
“Begin your letter writing with Bismillah.”

The Sahabah (RA) inquired,
