Lexical Meaning :
The meaning of the word “Fitr” is “opening (of something)”. The word “Infatarat” (Arabic: إنفَطَرَت) in the following verse is derived from a similar root with the word “Fitr”:
When the sky is rent apart,” (82:1)
It is also mentioned that “Tatafattarat” (Arabic: تَفَطَّرَت) and “Infatarat” have the same meaning and “Iftar” (Arabic: إِفطار) and “Fitr” (Arabic: فِطر) are from the same root, since the fasting person opens his mouth to eat at sunset and on the day of Eid al-Fitr.
Quran And Eid-ul-Fiter
Soul Purpose of fast Ramadhan & Eid-ul-fiter
1- Remember Allah Tala & obey him
All this is so that you may complete the number (of fasts as prescribed) and proclaim the Takbīr of Allah for having guided you, and (so) that you may be grateful. (2:185)
Success is surely achieved by him who purifies himself, and pronounces the name of his Lord, then offers prayer.(87:15)
Note :`Umar bin `Abdul-`Aziz, that he used to command the people to give the Sadaqat Al-Fitr, and he would recite this Ayah:
2- Celebration for Having Quran
O men, there has come to you an advice from your Lord, and a cure for the ailments of your hearts, and guidance and mercy for the believers.
Say, “With the grace of Allah and with His mercy (this book has been revealed). So they should rejoice in it. It is much better than that (wealth) which they accumulate.
Note :
1-Regarding this, there is a Hadith from Sayyidna Anas ؓ عنہ where it has been reported that the Holy Prophet ﷺ said, فضل ` the :fadl (grace) of Allah denotes the Qur’an and: رحمہ : rahmah (mercy) means that you were blessed with the taufiq (ability) of reciting the Qur’an and acting in accordance with it.’ (Ruh al-Ma` ani from Ibn Marduwayh)
2- Sayyidna ` Abdullah ibn ` Abbas رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما narrates that fdll means the Qur’an, and rahmah refers to the Holy Prophet ﷺ This interpretation finds support in the verse of the Holy Qur’an where it is said: وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةً لِّلْعَالَمِينَ ﴿107﴾ (And We have not sent you [ 0 Muhammad ] except as mercy for the worlds – 21:107). However, the outcome of this too is no different from the earlier tafsir – because, acting in accordance with the Qur’an, or Islam ultimately reverts to following the lead given by the Holy Prophet Ili through his word and deed.
unimaginable rewards
the Prophet said:
Every deed of the son of Adam is multiplied, a single deed as ten times the like of it up to seven hundred times. Allah Almighty said, ‘Except for fasting, as it is for Me and I will reward it. He leaves his desires and his food for My sake.’

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Allah said, ‘Every deed of the son of Adam is for him, except for fasting. It is for Me and I will reward it.’ Fasting is a shield, so when one of you fasts, he may not be obscene or boisterous. If someone insults him or fights him, let him say: Indeed, I am fasting. By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the breath coming from the mouth of a fasting person is more pleasant to Allah than the scent of musk. The fasting person has two moments of relief he enjoys: when he breaks his fast he is joyful, and when he meets his Lord he is joyful for his fasting.”

Angles descend upon the eid paths
Sayyiduna Ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) is reported to have narrated that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said:
When it is the morning of [‘Eidul] Fitr, Allah Ta’ala sends the Angels to every city/town. They come down to the earth and stand at the mouths/entrances of every alley [and road]. They then call out with a voice that every creation of Allah Ta’ala hears besides the jin and mankind. They say: “O Ummah [nation, i.e. followers] of Muhammad [sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam]! Go to the extremely benevolent Rabb that will grant an abundant reward and forgive great faults!”
When they [i.e. the people] go to their place of [‘Eid] Salah, Allah Ta’ala asks the Angels: “What is the recompense for the worker who has done his job?”
The Angels reply: Our Deity and our Master! His recompense is that You grant him his due in full!
Allah Ta’ala then says: ‘O My Angels! Indeed I make you [all] witness that I have granted them My happiness and My forgiveness as a reward for their fasting and standing/praying during the month of Ramadan.
Allah Ta’ala then says: O My servants! Ask of/from me! For indeed, by My honor, and My majesty, whatever you ask of Me in your gathering for your Hereafter I shall most certainly grant you! And whatever you ask of Me concerning your Dunya, I shall look at your welfare (regarding it). By My honor, I will most definitely cover/hide for you your faults so long as you are conscious of Me! By My honor, I will not disgrace you nor defame you before/amongst the sinners. Go/Return forgiven, surely you have pleased Me and I am pleased with you!”
The Angels [then] rejoice and celebrate at the great reward Allah Ta’ala bestows this Ummah with when they have completed the Fast of the month of Ramadan.

Jabir ibn Abdullah reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would return on the day of Eid by using a different route from which he came.

Ibn al-Qayyim said, “It is said that the reason he did this was to greet the people with peace who lived on both fairways, or so that the blessings of his passing would reach both areas, or to fulfill the needs of those among them. It is said that he did so to establish the symbols of Islam in the various roads and paths. Another reason given is that he did so to frustrate the hypocrites when they witnessed the might of Islam and its people. It is said that he did so in order for the various areas to testify to his obedience to Allah. Surely, he who walks to the mosque and the place of prayer will earn this virtue: one step raises him a degree and another erases a sin until he returns home. It is also said, and this is the correct opinion, that all the reasons mentioned here are possible as well as other unknown wisdom that always accompanied his actions.”
